Lower Back Pain
When it comes to back pain there are three different types.
There is the Acute Pain which is the most common type back
pain. It can last anywhere from six days or less. It can be
pain from tissue damage has resulted from an injury or over
working your back muscles. When people here the word acute pain
they really don’t have a good idea of what it really is. Other
great examples of acute pain would be labor pains from having a
baby, getting hit with a hammer on your hand and touching a
very hot surface such as a stove.
Chronic Back Pain
The next type of pain is Chronic Pain, chronic pain can
appear in two different ways, there is Chronic pain that is a
result from a clear cut cause like an accident for example. The
other type is chronic pain that cannot be identified by a
specific cause. When someone says they experience chronic back
pain they are saying that they can experience pain anywhere
from three to six months. Tissue damage and back or spine
trauma can also be factors.
Chronic pain can occur from a cause or something the doctors
cannot see but there are ways to help relieve back through
exercise, sometimes even medications and if worse came to worse
surgery as a last resort.
Neuropathic Back Pain
The last type of pain is called Neuropathic Pain, this
medical term has been researched more and more over the past
few years. When it comes to Neuropathic back pain all of the
symptoms of an original injury have dissipated and the new pain
they may be feeling is not from the an original injury or cause
of pain . Chronic pain can feel dull but the pain you may
experience with Neuropathic pain has been described as severe
at times, sharp pains and shooting pains. You may also
experience tingling, a numbness in the lower back region or
weakness. There are different types of treatments that include
medication, surgery and exercise.
Back pain should not be ignored because what could start out
as a simple minor injury could turn into something worse if the
pain persists and you don’t seek the proper treatment. If you
have an injury and it has not healed properly then contact your
doctor and they may need to try a different approach. Every
adult at some point in their lives will experience back pain
and while in some cases it may just be age or maybe an accident
that healed properly. But on the other hand you have the cases
where a back injury did not heal correctly and the diagnosis
what not correct. Always have a doctor examine you, it may save
you problems in the long run.
